Black Sails

Have you ever heard the saying, “that ship has sailed?”
I planned to take a series of fabulous photos of our newest airship snow globe when we got back to Colorado after showing at the spring One of a Kind show in Chicago, but …

that ship has sailed. It was purchased and is off on a new adventure, somewhere in Illinois.

Here are a few snaps we took during the making of “Black Sails” that may inspire us to make another someday.

“Black Sails” – one of a kind glitter snow globe, with tiny airship over a sailing ship with sails made of black cloth. When shaken the globe glitters with darker glitter, reminiscent of thunder and lightning. Hand-painted base with metallic patina effect and brass rivets. Grand Adventure balloon

Ever feel like it’s time for a Grand Adventure, but you don’t know exactly where you want to go? Remember the wise words of Lewis Carroll: If you don’t know where you are going you are sure to get there.
The urge to be somewhere else, but nowhere specific, is the perfect occasion for a journey by balloon. Pack a picnic basket and your favorite fellow traveler and let the wind take you.

Men At Work

Machines both fascinate and frighten me. Sometimes their impact seems to overwhelm the presence of the very people who created them.
This sparkle snow globe, Men at Work, illustrates that feeling. Just who is in charge, anyway? what are we trying to accomplish?

When shaken, the scene is bathed in shimmering gold dust … until the dust settles, and the work begins again.

Renegade Airship

Arrrr, it’s the pirate’s life for me!

When one is in the mood to be dastardly, not just any ship will do. The Renegade is just that: a lone wolf gone off to seek fortune and adventure where it might be found.

When shaken, the ship disappears into the clouds. Renegade Airship snow globe, Camryn Forrest Designs, Denver, Colorado

Going Steampunk (you could say, “under construction”)

When asked, “Are you going Steampunk?” this globe says it all.

Going Steampunk custom snow globe by Camryn Forrest DesignsInside the miniature world of a swirling, glittering snow globe, tiny workmen on ladders remodel a plain fairy cottage into a steampunk dwelling, adding watch gears, an elaborate rooftop and riveted metal embellishments. Shake the globe and watch the world shimmer with gold microdust, settling slowly as the craftsmen get back to work.

Details: Four-inch glass globe encasing a one of a kind mixed media sculpture of clay, wood, leather, vintage jewelry and metal findings. The interior sculpture is just over two inches tall; it appears slightly larger due to magnification of liquid and glass. The round wood base is wrapped in a indented and pressed clay band with added gears and hardware on the touchable exterior. Engraved metal plate states “Going Steampunk” — this snow globe will be auctioned to support arts education programs by the Cherry Creek Arts Festival.
