Gearly Beloved

Step one, make a tiny hat, then add tinier goggles.

Step Two, float a headless goggled hat, a bowler to be specific, in the lazy liquid of a snow globe.

Step Three, shake the globe. When shaken, fill the liquid with swirling dark mystery, and a gaggle of tiny gear-shaped metallic bits, and one — just one — black top hat confetti piece.  (Yes, it’s there, in the photos, but you have to really want to see it.)

Black Sails

Have you ever heard the saying, “that ship has sailed?”
I planned to take a series of fabulous photos of our newest airship snow globe when we got back to Colorado after showing at the spring One of a Kind show in Chicago, but …

that ship has sailed. It was purchased and is off on a new adventure, somewhere in Illinois.

Here are a few snaps we took during the making of “Black Sails” that may inspire us to make another someday.

“Black Sails” – one of a kind glitter snow globe, with tiny airship over a sailing ship with sails made of black cloth. When shaken the globe glitters with darker glitter, reminiscent of thunder and lightning. Hand-painted base with metallic patina effect and brass rivets. Small Arms

Been a little crazy around here, and I’ve neglected to post for too long.

I hope you love a visual pun as much as we do.

Bang!

I was asked recently if I had any snow globe featuring weapons. Hmmm, let’s see.

Keeping in mind that these sculptures are about two inches tall and completely non-functional, of course, the answer is yes. A look back at a few of the imaginary “weapons” we’ve created.

Bang! goes the pistol and Pyooo! Pyooo! goes the Ray Gun. The high-heeled cannon, a cross between fashion and self-defense, simply goes Boom!

Buck Rogers would be proud.

Grand Adventure balloon

Ever feel like it’s time for a Grand Adventure, but you don’t know exactly where you want to go? Remember the wise words of Lewis Carroll: If you don’t know where you are going you are sure to get there.
The urge to be somewhere else, but nowhere specific, is the perfect occasion for a journey by balloon. Pack a picnic basket and your favorite fellow traveler and let the wind take you.

Long and Winding Road

Life’s like that: a series of twists and turns where you end up in an unexpected place.

Maybe it makes you laugh, maybe you feel frightened by what you cannot predict. Sometimes life takes you to a place you’ve never been before that feels like it’s home. Or perhaps you wander into a dead-end alley and have to figure out a new path, retracing steps and wondering “how did I get here?”

Like the bestLong Winding Road custom snow globe, Camryn Forrest Designs 2015 short stories, and maybe the best novels and best lives, often the journey has a long and winding road, one where you can’t see the beginning and the end along the way, but one that takes you exactly where you need to be. Or when you finally reach that spot that feels like home and you wonder: what took me so long to find this place? Not knowing … ah, keeps it interesting that way.

Or as the wise philosopher Buckaroo Bonzai said, “where ever you go, that’s where you’ll be.”
