Rockets, Wormholes and Galactic Carwashes

Who really knows what a worm hole looks like? Is it a shimmering spot where one passes through to the other side of space? A spot of Jell-O in the fabric of the universe? Or perhaps it looks like some kind of space-age vacuum cleaner carwash? You won’t know until you try it.

This snow globe was an exploration of a rocket, being pulled into a force-field or perhaps, the galactic car wash. I’m never sure until it comes out on the other side, spit-shined and gleaming bright, or if it vanishes into uncertain darkness. But the pull into the liquid-filled tube is undeniable.

May we present to you, the elusive double snow globe. Inside the glass globe, with a curious tower of metal and glass, a tiny chess piece waits, wearing blinders made of watch gears. Rising in the globe is a second clear tube, filled with shimmering crushed crystals which are black as coal. When the waterglobe is shaken, a storm of black dust swirls in the liquid, but a second storm occurs inside the clear tube as the denser black pieces come to life within.

On the exterior of the tube, a knowing face smiles serenely, never betraying the secrets inside.

“Always …” Steampunk Heart Waterglobe

For some messages, simple is best.

A glass heart with an iridescent sheen catches the light, bound with brass and touched with a gold wire coil, antique bronze metal gear and a tiny hanging copper spring.  When shaken, the heart bobs slightly on tightly coiled steel and is washed with a touch of reflective metallic dust, glittering and winking rainbows as the dust darts and dances in the liquid interior, and falls gently to the base.

For some people, this is enough: “Always.”
